The Government e-Marketplace (GEM) platform enables contractors, suppliers, and service providers to participate in government procurement digitally. Registration is free and allows businesses to supply goods, services, and manpower to government departments across India.

Follow these steps to register on the GEM portal:

Step 1: Visit the Official GEM Portal

Go to the official Government e-Marketplace website: gem.gov.in

On the homepage, click on “Sign Up” and select Seller / Service Provider.

Step 2: Create Your Account

Enter your basic details, including:

  • Mobile number linked with Aadhaar
  • Business email ID
  • Aadhaar / PAN details of the authorized person

You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile and email for verification.

Step 3: Verify Aadhaar & PAN

Complete Aadhaar authentication and PAN verification.

This step ensures that the account is linked to a verified business identity.

Step 4: Enter Business & Organization Details

Fill in your company information:

  • Business type (Proprietorship / Partnership / Pvt Ltd / Others)
  • Business name and registration details
  • Registered address
  • Bank account details for payments
  • GST details (if applicable)

Step 5: List Your Products or Services

Add the products or services you want to supply:

  • Construction materials
  • Equipment
  • Manpower services
  • Civil works or maintenance services

Use correct categories to ensure your profile appears in relevant government searches.

Step 6: Upload Required Documents

Upload supporting documents such as:

  • PAN card
  • Business registration certificate
  • GST certificate (if available)
  • Bank details (cancelled cheque or passbook)

Step 7: Profile Completion & Verification

Complete all profile sections and submit for verification.

Once approved, your business becomes eligible to participate in bids and receive government orders.

Step 8: Start Bidding & Receiving Orders

After approval, you can:

  • View open tenders and bids
  • Submit quotations
  • Receive direct purchase orders
  • Track orders and payments through the portal
